City Conditions:
Weather: Summer is in full swing, temps are up and fans are set on high. The pavement of the streets heats up the city to an almost unbearable amount. Rain storms are few, but when they come they cool the city down nicely. Nights are cooler but still warm enough for bbq's.

Housing (1 sub-board) For anyone who has an apartment out of the haven they can be found here. Housing usually consist of an apartment or a studio apartment. Apartments ranging from one bedroom to four, though the bigger it is the more it cost. Studio apartments are usually small and are just one large room to be broken apart by furniture or other possessions. The more run down they are usually the cheaper, and the more luxury you want the more cash you will end up paying in the long run. Moderators: Star, Van, Allure
The Haven (5 sub-boards) The haven was founded by Van, Star, Allure, Shadow, and Loki. Handed down to Van from his long lost parents he and the rest of the gang decided to turn the run down apartment building into something worthwhile. They opened it up to any mutant that needed a safe haven from the world. It serves as a place for them to come and clear their head or stay and help run the place. Everyone is different and no one here criticizers anyone else for their 'gift'. It is located on the lower east side and is 13 floors high. It has been untouched for years and not even the police know that it is now being used. Moderators: Star, Van, Allure
M.A.C.E. Command Central A massive dull red and white rig hauling a 50ft long trailer represents the mobile operations center for MACE within the New York district. Inside houses some of the most advanced technology currently available to mankind. All used towards a single goal, the suppression and apprehension of mutants.
Sighting this vehicle directly in a mutant populated area is a clear sign that a massive strike is about to occur and MACE's success rate is 90% and rising by the day. Ruthless and determined to hold back the tide of mutation and protect mankind there is no compromise, only victory. Moderators: Star, Van
City Streets The streets of Manhattan are as different as night and day. Some streets are bright, happy and bubbling with excitement. While others are dark, scary and very much unnerving to walk down. Park Avenue, 5th Avenue, and Broadway represent the island's peak streets. With places such as Time Square on Broadway, the Plaza Hotel on 5th and the Met-Life Building right in the middle of Park Avenure, these streets never see darkness. The rizty bourgeoise prance down these streets with their poodles and papillons just as decked out as their owners. But there are some roads were the street lights barely come on and the window shades are always closed. The gangs and convicted murders prowl in the shadows, waiting for the naive and the arrogant to stray down their way, unaware of the danger that lies in the darkness. Unfornunately, the meta-haven apartment building sits on one of these streets for that is the only reason it was abandoned. The police are doing their jobs in putting these people in jail, however, the cops have recently become more focused on capturing mutants than molestors. Moderators: Star, Van, Allure
Hell's Kitchen (1 sub-board) As time progressed after the bloody Civil War, Hell's Kitchen on New York City's West Side and the Tenderloin just to the east, was overflowing with mob crime and political corruption. Notorious gangs ruled the streets between the tenements, grog shops, slaughter houses, railroad yards, and gas works. People were ruled by these gangs mercilessly with no hope of living without the fear of being robbed, threatened or very possibly even murdered. This "used to be run-down town" is seated from 34th street to 59th Street and from Eighth Avenue to the famous Hudson River. Over the years, Hell's Kitchen has learned to temper its wild instincts to a respectable degree. Although n unknowing visitor will still see pockets of sleaze, this infamous neighborhood is now the home to thousands of people and businesses. Now that the police forces have been able to take command of gangs and mobs in this area of the city, crime isn't controlling the lives of residentsad visitors any longer. It has become one of the many tourists stops for visitors, although they know not to remain there long. For just because the neighborhood looks like its turned from its dastardly ways does not mean that all is well in Hell. There are schemes and under-the-table business being contracted in the city's streets, right unfer the noses of the police. Yet the day will come when dark deeds of the underworld will finally break through New York City's surface floor, leaving Manhattan to crumble at the feet of Hell's Kitchen front door. Central Park Central Park is the place to go when one is in need of a break from the busy life of NYC.The gigantic park is located between 59th Street and up to about 100th Street and between 9th and 5th avenues. Students come to study and play, while dogs come to run and be free. Lovers come to be together and singles come to take in life. No matter what the case, people can always go to Central Park and lose themselves in it's many many hidden, serene and gorgeous havens of hills and grass. The fields are huge and green, the lakes and ponds are plenty and tranquile, while the paths are smooth and wide. The park is never too small for New York. Moderators: Star, Van, Allure
Harlem Harlem is a neighborhood of Manhattan in New York City, long known as a major African American cultural and business heaquarters out of each of the 5 boroughs. In the 1920s and 1930s, over 125 entertainment places operated, including speakeasies, cellars, lounges, cafes, taverns, supper clubs, rib joints, theaters, dance halls, and bars and grills. The Apollo Theater opened on 125th Street on January 26, 1934. The Savoy Ballroom, on Lenox Avenue, was a renowned venue for awesome swing dancing. Harlem began to see a rapid change in the late 1990s, due to the change in federal & city policies, including fierce crime-fighting and an effort to develop the retail corridor on 125th Street. Finally, wealthier New Yorkers, having taking over every other part of Manhattan and much of Brooklyn, had nowhere else to go. Property values in Central Harlem increased nearly 300% during the 1990s, while the rest of the City saw only a 12% increase. Even empty shells of buildings in the neighborhood were, as of 2005, routinely selling for nearly $1,000,000 each. Bill Clinton rented office space at 55 West 125th Street after completing his second term in the White House in 2001.Harlem has been the setting for several movies, including Across 110th Street in 1972 and The Royal Tenenbaums. Any mutants who come to this part of the city will never be turned away because Harlem itself is turning into a small melting pot of cultural and genetical differences. Moderators: Star, Van, Allure
Time Square Times Square is located between 34th Street on Broadway and 7th Avenue and travels north to about 45th Street. The brilliantly lit area consists of great attractions, like giant news casts sliding past huge televisions as well as the sideshows and artists who perform along the sidewalks for a chance to be interviewed by a newsreporter, the visitors included. the thousands of people who visit this grand site are overwhelmed at how many buildings are encompassed into the small space of two crossing avenues. Many come to be on TV at the TRL sidewalk while others come for the fact that so many movies like spider-man one and two were shot there. It gives people the feeling that they are somewhere special, and they are Moderators: Star, Van, Allure

Statue of Liberty (1 sub-board) The oldest foreign woman in American history stands proud in the junction of NYC's two rivers, the East River and the Hudson River, on the famous Liberty Island. The green statue, which was originally built with pure copper, signifies what the nation of America represents: Freedom. The freedom of the press, freedom of speech, freedom of religion, the freedom of assembly, and so on and so forth. Many mutants come to the island to find peace and tranquilty from a city that doesn't appreciate them. The country should be standing tall with the basic rights that all living, breathing people deserve, yet, instead, she turns her back to the ones who need what the Statue of Liberty promises to all; the freedom to be who you are. Empire State Building The tallest building in New York City was built on the great 5th Avenue on the famous 34th Street. The Empire is ....... stories high. The number may not seem much, but its the tall antanae that keeps this structure in the minds of all New Yorkers. It points straight up to heaven, and each night the top layes of the Empire State Building is lit, sometimes all green, sometimes pink or red, and blue and yellow, depending on the occasion of the night. The wonder colors light up all the avenues from lexington to 8th avenue and 20th street til 70th street. The building acts like a beacon, pulling the people to its beautiful and massive structure. Once one enters the Empire, they can ride the elevator to the top where the entire NYC skyline is in view. From the depths of downtown to the gleam of uptown, the Empire State Building becomes what New Yorkers stand for; hope and courage. Moderators: Star, Van, Allure

New York public libray The New York Public Library, made famous once more in the recent film The Day After Tomorrow, has more than 80 centers located throughout the five boroughs of New York City. The one in the movie is located on 5th Avenue and 42nd Street, next to Bryant Park, which is famous itself for hosting the annual Fall Fashion Show. There are millons of books in constant circulation in all of New York City. The quiet calmness and the lively programs that each center promotes helps all mutants in keeping in touch with literacy and education without having to feel obligated to learn. Rockefeller Center in the center of Midtown Manhattan, straddling both Fifth Avenue and Sixth Avenue aka The Avenue of the Americas, from 48st and 51st street s the famous Rockefeller Center. The nation's largest indoor theater, Radio City Music Hall, is located in the Rockefeller Center complex as well NBC's Saturday Night Live. One of the world's most highly recognizable gilded statue is of Prometheus, a god cursed by Zeus for bringing fire to mankind who has to carry a huge boulder up a steep mountain everyday for an eternity. This statue stands above a below-level plaza which is used as an ice-skating rink during winter and an outdoor restaurant for the rest of the year. As the 2005/2006 winter season moves in unto the city, the great christmas tree, shipped from little New Jersey, of Rockefeller Center is being prepared for its annual treelighting the week before thanksgiving. This time of year proves to be one of love, hope and unity for the mutants of the haven for this is just about everyone's first holiday season on their own. Moderators: Star, Van, Allure

St.Patricks Cathedral The largest decorated gothic-style Catholic Cathedral in the US that has been recognized throughout history as a center of Catholic life in this country. Opened in 1879 the Cathedral has been a safe haven long before 'The Haven' even existed. Mutants can come hear and worship or just take the time to marvel at the beautiful stained glass windows or sculptures. Moderators: Star, Van, Allure

Little Italy Walking beside the narrow, cobblestoned streets beneath the fire escapes of turn-of-the-century tenements, you're tempted by the sights, sounds and smells of Italian cuisine and culture emanating from the restaurants surrounding every step. With all the excitement its a great place for mutants to come for a quick bite to eat or to get away for awhile. Moderators: Star, Van, Allure

China Town In the center of the lower east side of downtown manhattan, there exists a place where "5 Dolla! 5 Dolla!" means more then just a cheap joke. It can buy you a pair of sunglasses, a cell phone case and a well-knitted scarf; all together. Centered on the wondrous Canal and Mott Streets, Chinatown has spread into Little Italy and Soho, since the population of the Asian community has increased over the years, making it the largest Asian society out of Asia in North America. Although the streets of Chinatown can be crowded, noisy, and plenty chaotic, many humans and mutants alike travel down to this small town to buy either gifts for themselves and friends, or just to see what cool stuff they can haggle down to a nice "one dolla! one dolla!" Greenwich Village Home to famous Washington Square Park as well as the enriched lives of NYU students, Greenwich Village has grown into a cultural as well as a modern neighborhood to the world's most creative writers, singers, artists and freethinkers. The Village became famous for it's up and coming uniqueness of culture now that its narrow, crooked streets were converted into studios, eating places, nightclubs, theaters, and shops. Greenwich Village has acquired quite a reputation for bohemianism and its interesting antique-like buildings, many dating back from the early and mid-1800s. They are still being used as homes by residents here, although there is an increasing number of modern apartment houses popping up every now and then. Washington Square Park, with its McKim, Mead, and White-designed arch, is a popular meeting place for people all over the world. This park harbors outdoor art exhibits that depict the creativity of the Village in its wholeness. Because this area of New York City is so open-minded with the different and the new, many of the kids from the haven feel a bit safer in this part of town. The fear that they usually feel diminish the moment they step under the grand arch in the beautiful Washington Square. Moderators: Star, Van, Allure

Madison Square Garden The World's Most Famous Arena is celebrating more than 125 years in the business. It has three different locations: two arenas on Fifth Avenue and 23rd Street, a third on Eighth Avenue and 50th Street and a fourth on Seventh Avenue and 33rd Street, where Penn Station rests. The history of the garden is long and a full of wonderful memories. From Knicks games to Christmas Carol Performance, Madison Square Garden is the place to be for a good show. However, the excitement of the arena can cost a bundle. Yet, there will still be some mutants from meta-haven that can afford to go to the garden and experience what it has to offer its NYC community. Moderators: Star, Van, Allure

Apollo Theater Harlem's World Famous Apollo Theatre is located on 125th in Manhattan. It'sa the city's third most visited attraction, which grosses in 1.3 million people a year. Many now well-known and respected music artists began their careers by performing at the Apollo, most of the time during legendary Amateur Night and Showtime at the Apollo, like Ella Fitzgerald, James Brown, Michael Jackson, D'Angelo and Lauryn Hill. Some of the theatres occasional visitors and audience members are mutants, trying to get away from their harsh lives and relax with some of the free and cheaper comedy acts and musical performances.
